Mia Calderone is a filmmaker, seasoned story artist, occasional comics creator and avid film developer currently working in Feature Animation based in Los Angeles. Uniquely, she is of Puerto Rican heritage and was raised between Brazil, Puerto Rico and the United States. Her diverse upbringing deeply influences her creative perspective and how she sees the world.

Mia believes that great films come from great characters, and that the most exciting stories are stories with simple plots that make space for nuanced and rich character development. Drawing from her multicultural background, she gravitates toward narratives that might initially appear silly or even absurd, but gradually reveal themselves to be complex, and deeply meaningful with characters that learn, adapt and grow from the new worlds and people they meet.

She's worked across many studios including The Walt Disney Animation Studios, Netflix, Kuku, Paramount and Warner Brothers. Mia began her career in live action studio operations and made the decision to transition to animation as she realized her passion for the craft was too overwhelming to ignore.

She has since accrued credits on many Features including The Lego Movie 2 by the Lord & Miller Team & The Sea Beast by Oscar winning director Chris Williams, and the highly anticipated In Your Dreams. She hopes through animation, people will fall in love with the fantastical worlds and emotional character relationships she dreams up—stories that invite viewers to look beyond the surface and discover the rich emotional landscapes that lie beneath.
